Dirt Cake is my classic... Basically, it's a chocolate mouse layered with ground up oreo cookies and served in a plant pot!

      Here's the recipe:

      1 flower pot (8” tall)
      1 small garden trowel
      small pkg gummy worms
      1 bunch silk/plastic flowers

      16 oz Oreo cookies
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
      8 oz cream cheese, softened
      1 cup confectioner’s sugar
      1 tsp vanilla
2 pkts instant chocolate pudding mix (or chocolate variety)
      3 cups of milk
12 ounces of whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed

      1. Grind up Oreos until they resemble soil.
      2. Combine butter and cream cheese in a large mixing bowl/
      3. Blend in confectioner’s sugar, vanilla and milk, then the packets of instant chocolate pudding mix.
      4. Fold in whipped topping and mix well until mixture resembles a chocolate mousse.
      5. Press in aluminum foil into the bottom of the flower pot. You may wish to line the pot completely if it is made of a porous material.
      6. Add a layer of crushed Oreos, and then a layer of the chocolate mixture, alternating until the container is filled. You should finish with a layer of crushed Oreos.
      7. Finish off decorating the pot by “planting” the silk flowers and adding a few gummy worms to the top. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
      8. Serve using the garden trowel, with the following poem:

I know I look strange, but dig right in.
      The flower is fake,
      The dirt is cake.
I don’t need water or tender loving care,
Just eat my dirt ‘til the pot is bare.

One of my favorite quick appetizers is a simple cheese and cracker plate. I like to take a brick of cream cheese and soften it slightly in the microwave and top with hot, spicy pepper jam. Great spread on crackers!

My favorite snack is dates or dried plums (or any other dried kind of fruit) wrapped in breakfast bacon and then grilled in the oven or fried in the pan. Use a toothpick to keep the bacon in place.

My Chicken Salad is always a hit.

      Cooked Chicken~ DUH!
Purple seedless grapes ( cut in half)
Plain low fat yogart ( mix this with the mayo. It really helps with the fat and gives it a unique taste)
      Salt and pepper to taste

I use lots of grapes. Just add everything together until it taste great.

I serve this with buttery crackers. It is yummy. Kinda light. Perfect for a baby shower.

My guests always ask for Oreo Truffles!!
      You can find them on
SUPER easy and oh so delish! :)

I love to make baked brie with a yummy fresh blackberry sauce on top and a plate of crackers - easy yet elegant. YUM.

This is my standby for girlie parties:
1.Fruit platter and Fruit dip (marshmellow whip and softened cream cheese)
      2.Veggies and ranch dip
3.Chicken salad on croissants or ckn salad on raisin bread with a slice of cucumber and then cut into squares

      Love the additions!

Life outside of scrapbooking?? Hahaha! Have fun at teh shower. 2 things that are always a hit... those little weiners simmered in honey BBQ sauce and warm brownies.

i make cheese dip but i put a twist on it. i use the maple sausage and brown it and then i use the velvetta cheese melt that and rotel.. i don't drain the sausage either add to cheese and rotel and wala.. i am asked all the time to make this cheese dip. real easy and it is usually gone by the end of the day..

aawww a baby shower! well i'm always asked to bring a spinach dip. i use the receipe off of the knorrs soup mix box.
      hope all goes well
